Annual Report – Malaria and Other Parasitic Diseases Division 2015–2016

Annual report documenting key interventions, performance, and progress by Rwanda's Malaria & Other Parasitic Diseases Division (MOPDD) for FY 2015–2016. Documents significant malaria resurgence with cases increasing from 514,173 in 2012 to over 3.2 million in 2015/16, representing a major public health challenge requiring comprehensive response strategies.

The report covers distribution of over 6 million Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) through mass campaigns and routine services, Indoor Residual Spraying in high-transmission districts, entomological surveillance revealing increasing insecticide resistance, and diagnostic/treatment coverage expansion. Community Health Workers conducted over 1.7 million malaria tests and treatments, while Mass Drug Administration campaigns for NTDs covered millions of school-aged children.

Critical for understanding malaria program challenges, intervention effectiveness, and strategic adaptations in response to disease resurgence and vector resistance patterns.
